Through the generous support of donors, REFI is pleased to offer teachers of Rockingham County Public Schools this opportunity for professional growth. An overall total of $5,000.00 is available to award this year to teachers. Maximum individual request is $250. Funds are intended for professional development opportunities between the end of the current school year (June) and the beginning of next school year (August). Limit: Only one request per applicant will be accepted.
The intent of these grants is to encourage and assist those teachers wishing to increase their knowledge base to benefit their classroom teaching skills. These grants are not to just help pay for courses for licensing requirements or leading to advanced degrees. Examples of categories of use are (but not limited to):
University or college classes in your current field or an enriching area of interest.
Conferences or workshops to enhance classroom teaching skills and/or opportunities.
Seminars that can be offered locally to benefit a large number of interested teachers. A group of teachers may collaborate in applying for a grant to hold a seminar in RCPS that would benefit as many teachers as possible.
Deadline for Application: Applications must be received online by 4:00 p.m., April 24, 2020. Late applications will not be accepted. A confirmation from google will be sent upon receipt of an application; if you do not receive one, contact Katie LaPira, Executive Director at email@example.com. Applications must be submitted through Google Forms.
As you prepare to submit the application: Please upload up to two pages, typed, double-spaced, describing your plan for using this grant. If you are attending a workshop, include the title, information on where & when the workshop will be and who is sponsoring it. If you are taking a university class, include the name of the course and university. Include information on how this workshop/class will benefit your students/school and how you will measure the impact of the study grant. Explain how this workshop/class will serve to enrich/enhance your teaching skills.
Selection of recipients will be made by a committee comprised of members of the Rockingham Educational Foundation's Board of Directors and RCPS’s Superintendent of Innovation and Learning. Notification of request outcome will be via email on May 15, 2020. Checks will be mailed to the grant recipient’s home address (as listed on the application) by June 1, 2020.
Grant applicants should strictly adhere to the format of this application. Additional attachments will not be accepted for committee review.
Grant recipients will be required to submit a brief summary at the beginning of next school year on how the grant funds were used to improve educational and instructional effectiveness in the classroom.
