SCHOLARSHIPS FOR ALL RCPS HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS
☐ Ed Long, Jr. Family Career and Technical Education Scholarship $1,000
Open to Rockingham County High School seniors who plan to attend Virginia Tech or Blue Ridge Community College for the Virginia Tech transfer program. Applicants must complete a 2-year sequence of a vocational technical program, preferably in one of the following fields: agriculture, business, family and consumer sciences, marketing, technology education, or trade and industrial education.
☐ Excel Rocktown Running Scholarship $1,500
Open to Rockingham County High School seniors who plan to pursue cross country or track & field at the collegiate level. Applicants must currently be a member of a cross country or a track & field team. Applicants must submit one letter of recommendation from a member of the direct coaching staff. Applicants must also submit a two page double-spaced essay on how running has supported your growth as a person and how you plan for running to continue serving you in the future.
☐ Bridgewater Retirement Community Nursing Scholarship $1,000
Open to Rockingham County High School seniors who have an interest in the nursing field. One $1000 scholarship will be awarded. Applicants must have a GPA of at least 3.0. Priority is given to applicants who are children of Bridgewater Retirement Community’s employees and have a serious desire to work in the healthcare profession.

Open to Rockingham County High School seniors who have been a member of the FFA or 4-H club for at least 2 years. Four $1,500 scholarships to be awarded (2 females and 2 males). Applicants must have a GPA of at least 3.0. Priority given to applicants who plan a career in the agricultural field.
☐ Gary & Martha Dovel Memorial Music Scholarship $500
Open to Rockingham County High School seniors who plan to pursue further education in music. Applicant must have actively participated in a school music program, including band, chorus, or both, for at least four years and participated in a musical production and/or marching band. Applicant must also demonstrate financial need, academic achievement, and extracurricular/ athletic participation. Applicant must submit one letter of recommendation from a music teacher and a short 500 word essay explaining why they should be considered for this scholarship.
☐ Hill Scholarship for Career Readiness $500 each
The Hill Scholarship for Career Readiness is a $500 scholarship that will be awarded to two students from Rockingham Academy. This is for seniors who plan to pursue a vocational, technical, or trade career. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and a strong interest in acquiring the additional skills and training needed to be successful in their chosen career field. Students will be recommended based on this criteria, and will be encouraged to write a brief statement explaining how the scholarship would be used to help you achieve success in your chosen career field. (Examples for use of this scholarship may include the following: tuition, books or training materials, purchase of required equipment or tools, professional uniforms, and the cost of certification or licensing manuals)

Two scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded to Rockingham County High School seniors who attend MTC and are currently working toward their certification or have received their certification in their chosen trade. Applicants must be continuing their education at a trade school.

Open to Broadway High School seniors who plan to attend Virginia Tech and enter the College of Ag/Life Sciences. The selected student may use $20,000 per year toward their first year tuition, as well as on-campus room and board. If they remain in good academic standing at the university and in their chosen program, they will receive the same for up to 4 years.

Open to Broadway High School seniors only. Applicant should exhibit a community minded attitude as evidenced by participation in civic organizations. In addition, recipient must demonstrate academic achievement and extracurricular participation. Priority given to students intending to obtain employment in the construction industry.

Open to Broadway High school seniors who are interested in pursuing either a profession in education, technical/trade or service industry. $1,000-$2,500 (based on given criteria) will be awarded to one female and one male student. Applicants must submit a 1-2 page essay on written on “Who inspired you or why you chose the education or trade/technical/service career path”.
The following criteria will be considered for $1,000-$2,500:

Priority given to applicants with the following intended majors in the order they are listed: business education, business or economics, computer technology, or education. Open to Broadway High School seniors only. Applicant should exhibit a community minded attitude as evidenced by participation in civic organizations. In addition, recipient must demonstrate academic achievement and extracurricular participation. Priority given to students intending to obtain employment in the construction industry.

Open to Broadway High school seniors who are interested in pursuing either a profession in education, technical/trade or service industry. $1,000-$2,500 (based on given criteria) will be awarded to one female and one male student. Applicants must submit a 1-2 page essay on written on “Who inspired you or why you chose the education or trade/technical/service career path”.
The following criteria will be considered for $1,000-$2,500:
$1,000- Teaching Profession or Trade/Technical/Service Profession
$500- Ag/Shop Teacher, Vocational/Technical Education Teacher, or Math Teacher
$100- Parents/Grandparents currently teaching or retired from teaching, Full-time Ag-Farmer, or Technical/Trades person
$500- GPA 4.0 or higher, $200- GPA 3.5 or higher but under 4.0, $100- GPA 3.0 or higher but under 3.5
$500- Hardship
$500- State or National Honors or Achievements
$100 per letter – Max $500- Athletic/Academic Letter in Cross Country, Track, Wrestling, Scholastic Team, Band
$100- FFA, DECA, FBLA, or Skills USA Officer
☐ Tanner Brooks Morris Memorial Teamwork Scholarship $500
Open to Broadway High School seniors on the football team. Applicant must exemplify teamwork, both on and off the field, and participate in school and community activities. Preference given to linemen. Must submit two recommendation letters, one from a football coach and one from a school or community organization leader.
☐ Viola Ritchie Sager Memorial Scholarship $500
Open to Broadway High School seniors only. Applicant must demonstrate academic achievement, citizenship, and financial need. Priority given to applicants with the following intended majors in the order they are listed: business education, business or economics, computer technology, or education. Applicant must submit two letters of recommendation from school officials and their high school transcript.
